K&S Staffing is hiring for a Dozer Operator

The Bulldozer Operator supports the plant by monitoring incoming fuel and managing the movement of fuel to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operation.

PRIMARY DUTIES

The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed.

- Maintain awareness of safe working conditions and practice safe work habits in all activities.
- Operate bulldozer, front-end loader, backhoe, unloader, and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner
- Complete daily preventative maintenance on heavy equipment
- Monitor and inspect mechanical equipment and all other machinery in the plant as necessary
- Complete and maintains required clean up throughout the Plant
- Manage the fuel supply storage for optimum mixing, storage, drying, reclaiming and pile shaping
- Communicates status of fuel handling equipment to appropriate members of operation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills, mechanically inclined,
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret instruments and gauges.
- Must be able to work as a team member as well as independently.
- Must possess initiative, self-motivation and integrity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Position regularly requires twisting, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and climbing stairs and ladders
- The Dozer Operator will work in a noisy environment and will be required to wear hearing protection.
- Must be able to work in extreme outside temperatures both hot and cold in dusty, windy, and wet conditions
- Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pull own weight to enter and exit cab of vehicle and equipment
- Working with hazardous materials may be required

This job is located in Susanville California.
Pay is $22/hour to start, DOE.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All work performed on the surface of mine premises—no work performed in open pits or underground.
  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Operate and monitor all sampling equipment in a manner that is consistent with the company’s safety and environmental policies.
  • The operator will collect ore and tailings samples and record data on operator reports and logbooks.
  • Perform minor mechanical tasks when necessary.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as necessary

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • Valid Driver’s License.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • One year prior surface mining experience is preferred but not required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Willingness and ability to learn how to operate and monitor all sampling equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Heavy: Lifting and carrying 50 to 75 lbs. of ore and tailings frequently. Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly.
  • Ability to climb and descend steep slopes and traverse rough and rocky terrain, most of which is loose gravel-like material (e.g., ore, tailings, and waste rock).
  • Physical demand requirements are substantially greater than that required for medium-type physical work.

HOURS: This position is full/time 40 hours/wk. The core mine site operating schedule is 8 am to 5 pm M-F.
OTHER DUTIES: Successful applicants must wear steel-toe shoes and provide their basic hand tools, work gloves, sun protection, water/hydration, food, etc.
