Overview:

The Asphalt Paving Machine Operator Handheld Plate Machine is responsible for operating and maintaining a handheld plate compactor or similar paving equipment to ensure smooth, even, and durable asphalt surfaces. This role is part of a paving crew that prepares, lays, and finishes asphalt for roads, driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the handheld plate compactor or paving machine to spread, level, and compact hot-mix asphalt according to project specifications
• Monitor asphalt temperature, adjust screed width/depth, and ensure even distribution to eliminate voids
• Work with dump truck drivers to maintain a steady flow of asphalt into the machine
• Coordinate with crew members, foremen, and other operators to maintain workflow efficiency

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of asphalt paving machinery operation and maintenance at least 1 year experience
• Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret paving plans or blueprints
